Spanish semana 11-15 to 11-19 November 10, 2010

Hola chicos y chicas: Como estan? Listos para la tarea? (homework :-( )

Last week was great, the kids worked concordant to my expectations and I’m very happy and proud of them.

New week, our 11 week, let’s start:

Grade 8 They learned and did a poster about A dozen Highly Useful Irregular Verbs last week. This week we will continue with the lesson, and  will do  written and verbal exercises.

Using the verb IR they will express How to ask and give directions and learn how to bargain in Spanish. Verbal practice. Group work: Create an scenario where they “regatean” in a market. Classwork and homework : Package  (copies)

Grade 7 : We had a wonderful week, Chicos I’m very proud of you.

On Monday: a group of 5 students were at the kitchen making Churros with Mrs. Beth Fusco (Gracias senora) while the other group were doing the regular classes, and on Tuesday the other group of 5 kids did the same.

Next Week: 

Group 1 and 2:  Review of the verb TENER (to have) The workbook should be completed until page 9.

This week They will learn that the verb Tener can be used for other things, especially to talk about “Age”, hunger, thirst, hot and cold.   Classwork: Copies and workbook 10-11

We will start with the verbal expression “HAY “meaning There is, and There are. It’s a necessary word to study and it’s often used with the question words QUE and CUANTOS/AS. Classwork: Workbook:  pages 12 and 13.

Homework: Please bring pictures of your families or clips from a magazines showing families. Workbook  pages 14 and 15.

We are going to do a “Restaurant”, it will be a group work, they will create it  name (be creative), Menu, the hours it is open, and a dialog where the students will acting out the waiters and the clients. I will give them a copy of the Project)

Advanced: We are doing Present tense but more complicated, using Irregular and regular verbs to create interesting converzations. We are using the book to continue with the curriculum. Book: En Espanol b,Etapa 3 Vocabulary: The Sports, Sporting Goods Store.

Conversation: Using stem changing verbs: Jugar, pensar,saber.

Writen exercises and Phrases for Making Comparisons.

Group work: The group will use any 5 stem changing verbs in a play. Include dialog on any topic of verb forms you choose. When the plays are ready, they will be share with the class, make it funny or silly.

Homework : I will supply copies.

Grade 6 : After learning and mastering Possessive Adjectives. This week we will work with The Family members, using P/A. 

The students has to bring pictures of their own family or clips from magazines showing families.

Project: Poster of their family:  They have to present to the class in Spanish
